<p>Most students learn the common irregular verbs (go, went, gone) but students often make mistakes with some of the other verbs that they don&#8217;t realise / don&#8217;t remember are irregular.</p>
<p>For example I used to hear students often say:</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: line-through;">My friend quitted his job.</span></p>
<p>The past tense of quit is <em>quit</em>. (Some textbooks teach that <em>quitted</em> is sometimes used in England, but it&#8217;s not very common and I&#8217;ve never heard a native speaker use it).</p>
<p>My friend quit his job.</p>

<p>Some other examples of common mistakes:</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: line-through;">I catched the ball.</span></p>
