Melbourne International Film Festival
One of the things that I like living about Melbourne is that it has the best arts and culture festivals in Australia. The Comedy Festival, the Writer’s Festival and the Melbourne International Film Festival.
The film festival is held for about 2 weeks every year and includes hundreds of films from around the world. I’m really interested in films, so the film festival is a great chance to learn about films from other countries. The festival includes feature films, documentaries and short films. This year I saw three documentaries.
Hubble 3D is an IMAX film about the hubble space telescope. It includes some stunning scenes from space.
I also watched The Invention of Dr. Nakamats, about Yoshio Nakamatsu, the Japanese scientist who invented the floppy disk. He is very eccentric and the film was really funny.
The other film I watched was Beetle Queen Conquers Tokyo. It talked about how popular insects are in Japan. When I was teaching in Japan, I was surprised at how many children I saw with Mushi King lunchboxes and bags.
