Blood Types

One of the things that surprised me when I moved to Japan was how many Japanese (particularly young women) believed that blood types can influence your personality.

Japan and a couple of other Asian countries are the only places where lots of people believe in blood type personality profiles.

In Western countries, some people believe in horoscopes: star signs and lots of newspapers publish horoscopes.

I don’t believe in blood type personality profiles or horoscopes.  There is no scientific evidence for them.

Students in Japan would sometimes ask me what my blood type was.  I don’t know my blood type.  A lot of Australians don’t know their blood type.

Now it’s possible for scientists to change people’s blood types.  I wonder what people who believe in blood types will think about that. :-)

    Hi Aidan!

You don’t know about your blood type? Also a lot of Australians don’t know about it. Wow!
It’s a kind of culture shock
for me. I had believed in blood type personality profiles for many years as most of Japanese do.
But now, I don’t want care about it !

Thanks for sharing this interesting post!

It’s raining and chilly( Hanabie ) in these days in Japan. Take care!

    Hi Moko.

Yeah, people aren’t as interested in blood types in Australia.
I was surprised by how many people in Japan took it seriously.

It was starting to get cooler in Melbourne, but the last week has been nice and warm again.
But winter is not far away.

    Have fun,
    Aidan.
