A rush to Himeji before renovations

I’ve been to lots of castles in Japan, but Himeji is my favorite.

I just learned that part of it will be closed for renovations for a long time.  I know that renovations are important, but it’s a shame that part of it will be closed for such a long time.

HIMEJI, Hyogo Prefecture–Tourists are flocking to Himeji Castle prior to major renovation work that starts in April, city officials said.

The 17th-century castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is inundated with visitors hoping for a last look of the historic structure before it is placed under wraps. It will be hidden from public view until March 2015.
